Top Tips For Wedding Skincare

Are you planning your wedding or event and wondering how to get your skin looking its absolute best for such a big occasion, a day that will  be one of your most photographed, documented days of your life.

Well I am here to help, I have put together some advice and top tips for wedding skincare to help you along your way.

Can you expect your makeup to be a 10 when your skin care routine is a 2?

I have been doing bridal makeup for well over 10 years now and have had the privilege of working on hundreds of different faces. I have always had the best outcome when the skin has been well looked after. You get out what you put in and so is true for skin prep and makeup application.

Would you prep a wall prior to painting it to get the best finish…YES

Well makeup is a similar concept although don’t worry, I certainly won’t be using Dulux!

It all starts from within

Drink water and hydrate your skin in the weeks leading up to your wedding day!

Dehydrated skin

  • Will look tired, dull with possibly flaky texture.
  • May also feel tight and uncomfortable, with a lack of natural glow and radiance
  • Fine lines and dark circles may be more prominent.
  • Redness and could be more irritated and sensitive.

Skincare routine (it’s never too late to start!)

  •  Cleanse, tone, and moisturise your skin twice daily.
  •  Using products suitable for your skin type. Your skin will thank you for it (and ditch the daily facial wipes! )

Exfoliation

  • Exfoliate your skin 2-3 times a week to remove dead skin cells and promote a smooth, naturally glowing complexion.
  • Choose a gentle, exfoliant to avoid irritation and scrub very gently in circular movements.
  • If you suffer from oily skin you could try using a chemical exfoliant containing salicylic acid to prevent clogged pores and keep your skin smooth.

Moisturise

  • Use a hydrating serum and a rich moisturiser to keep your skin plump and hydrated.
  • Consider adding a hyaluronic acid serum for extra moisture.
  • Even oily skin needs moisture but opt for a lightweight, oil free moisturiser to keep your skin hydrated without adding excess oil.

Eye Cream

  • Apply an eye cream to keep the delicate under-eye area moisturised and reduce puffiness and dark circles.

Sun Protection

  • Wear sunscreen with at least an SPF of 30 daily to protect your skin from UV damage. Not forgetting your decolletage area, use everyday – rain or shine!

Face Masks

  • Incorporate hydrating and brightening face masks into your routine 1-2 times a week.

Professional Treatments

  • Schedule any facials or professional skin treatments at least 2 weeks before the wedding to avoid any potential irritation or breakouts on your big day.

Healthy Diet

  • Eat a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and healthy fats to support skin health.

Avoid New Products

  • Avoid introducing new skincare products close to the wedding to prevent any adverse reactions.

Sleep

  • Get your beauty sleep to ensure your skin looks rested and refreshed.

By following these top tips for wedding skincare, you’ll help to ensure your skin looks its best for your big day.

Trust me when I say you will get out what you put in and your makeup will sit on your skin like a dream and will last better on well looked after skin.

For a personal prescription for your skin type and best products to use, I would always advise speaking to a cosmetologist or dermatologist.

Danni kindly did my wedding hair and makeup as well as my sisters and Mums She was amazing, making us all feel at ease and helped settle my nerves. My Mum loved having some false eyelashes, first time she has tried them ! Even though I say so myself we all looked amazing 💕 Couldn’t recommend her highly enough! xxx
